Across the Pacific and Timor-Leste, women are wiring solar arrays on village rooftops, signing off project budgets and standing in front of communities to explain how clean energy will keep the lights on. They are helping to reshape how energy is generated, managed and shared.
Today we’re launching the 2026 season of Women in Power, our storytelling series celebrating some of these women who are leading, building and championing clean energy across the REnew Pacific program and its projects.
From the atolls of Kiribati to the islands of Vanuatu and the villages of Samoa, they come from right across the region. Some bring technical expertise, installing and maintaining the infrastructure their communities depend on. Others direct, support, coordinate and champion the work that makes it possible. Some are leading close to home. Others are Pacific women carrying their skills and leadership across borders to Australia and beyond.
Together they are breaking down barriers and opening the door for more women and girls to follow. Through this series, we want to challenge the norms that have kept women on the sidelines of the energy sector and show what an inclusive energy future actually looks like, with the Pacific leading the way.
Women in Power began in 2025 through REnew Pacific’s off-grid pilots, with leaders like Respond Global’s Cecilia Kaluatman among the first to share their stories. This year we’re growing the series across the whole program, putting women’s leadership where it belongs: in full view.
